So, here’s the sitch: you have a beautiful new clutch bag, your hair is curled, your nails are freshly manicured, and your LBD is on. You’re ready to go. But your clutch is small, and you definitely need your phone, your purse and your passport, and then you can’t fit the rest of your make up in!
We’ve all been there, which is why I, your guardian angel, am about to teach you some tricks to save space and have your face looking gorgeous all night long with just five items.
1- Ditch the foundation. It takes up so much room, and there are no guarantees that a few cocktails down the line you won’t end up with the line. Instead, take a compact. Then you have an applicator and a mirror, too, so there’s no drama when the girls are hogging the toilet mirror!
2- Multi-task your lipstick. Unless you’re opting for a grungey vibe, your lipstick can be used as a blusher, especially if you’re rocking a cute pink. A+ co-ordination points for you, too. Just dab a little on the apples of your cheeks and rub in well for a sweet and rosy complexion.
3- Choose liquid liner. It stays much better than pencil liner, and you won’t need to worry about clearing away those unattractive gloops and smudges half way through your night and reapplying the whole lot. Monroe? Hepburn? The winged eyeliner is a classic. Stick with it.
4- A pearly-nude eyeshadow. A dab on top of your cheekbone and on your tear duct will keep you looking fresh all night, again eliminating the need for foundation. It’ll also make you look contoured, without having to do the scary shading bit.
5- If you really need a foundation: take a corrector stick. It’s a much better way to cover blemishes or sleepy eyes. The precision application means you won’t waste, wash our your rosy cheeks or smudge your lipstick.
